Rumpelstiltskin Shoes: Curled Toes, Not Jordans
The Rumpelstiltskin shoes in the Tip Toeing in My Jordans meme are black, pointed shoes with the toes curled up, worn without socks under trousers cut off at mid-calf. They aren’t Jordans: the name comes from a 2014 Riff Raff song. For a costume, curled toe covers over black flats get the look.

Is the tip toe guy wearing Jordans?
No. Jordans are Air Jordans, the Nike basketball shoe line first made for Michael Jordan in 1984. The little man in the clip wears pointed shoes with curled toes.
The Jordans come from the song. Riff Raff’s 2014 song “Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwdinz” is sometimes called “Tiptoeing in My Jordans,” and a TikTok user paired it with the clip in late September 2026. NBC News’ report on the meme carries the line “He’s tiptoeing in his Jordans.” The story behind it is on our Rumpelstiltskin meme page.

How to make Rumpelstiltskin shoes: curled toe covers
Covers that slip over a pair of black flats or slippers are the quickest way to the curled toe. You need:
- Black felt or black craft foam
- A pipe cleaner per shoe, to hold the curl
- Paper or stuffing for the tip
- Fabric glue or a hot glue gun
- Black elastic
- Black flats or slippers with a closed toe
Steps
- Trace the front half of a shoe on paper, seen from above, and stretch the tip into a long point. Cut two felt pieces per shoe from this pattern.
- Lay a pipe cleaner along the top edge of one piece, all the way to the tip.
- Glue the two pieces together along the edges, over the pipe cleaner. Leave the back open.
- Stuff the point lightly with paper, slide the cover over the toe of the shoe and curl the tip upward. The pipe cleaner holds the curl.
- Glue or stitch a strip of elastic across the back opening, from one side of the cover to the other, so it runs under the sole and holds the cover on while you walk.
Leave your ankles bare and cut or roll your trousers to mid-calf, so the shoes show the way they do in the clip.
Ready-made curled toe shoes: what to search for
- “Elf shoes” or “jester shoes” in black.
- “Elf shoe covers”: covers that go over your own shoes, like the DIY version above.
- “Pointed toe flats” in black, if you’d rather skip the curl.
Before Halloween night, check that you can rise onto your toes in them: the dance is done on tiptoe. The moves are in our tip toe dance tutorial.
